After winning his trial in the first stage at Faughanvale, Adam went on to win at the Semi Final stage at Lavey on Saturday evening. In the Final at Celtic Park, Adam came so close to becoming

21st April
Doire Colmcilles Under-14s had mixed fortunes this week with the side fighting back on Monday evening to earn a deserved draw against Craigbane in their first league outing of the season, whilst bowing out of the Feile na nOg in the semi-finals being beaten by a good Faughanvale team. In the league game against Craigbane there was some excellent individual play and team spirit to score two goals and two points in the closing stages of the game. There was a great individual goal by Conal Duffy and an excellent free kick from Mathew McDermott earning the draw. In the Feile, the result was not what the boys had worked for with two unfortunate goals being the main difference between the two teams. With Dee Watson and Brian McCallion missing the team were further hit when Ethan McDaid was injured prior to the game starting. Brian would like to thank all the under 12 players who stepped up to help the team with Michael Mullan, Jack McGeehan and Ryan Watkins all filling in as substitutes for the game. With a promising league campaign to come there is plenty of hope that the team can build upon their start and continue with their development as they should have no fear of anyone they have to face in the league. Our U14's continued their great start to the Feile with a deserved hard fought draw with city rivals Sean Dolan's. Missing several key players the benefit of having a strong squad reaped its rewards with all players showing the commitment required to progress to next stage.
After a great first half by Dolan's who lead by 4 points, Conor O'Connell and Ethan McDaid's hard work combined for Conal Duffy to slot over our first point. That was soon followed by a great solo effort by Mathew McDermot and with the time almost up a dazzling run by Adam McDaid highlighted with an even better goal finish ensured we shared the points. Best for us was Aaron Irwin, Jack McGeehan and Jack Folland. Training continues on Saturday mornings at the College from 10.30 - 11. All new players are very welcome. Contact Brian on 07909717703

Brians Under 14s started the season off in impressive form with an away win against Claudy last Sunday. With a great team performance it was easy to see that the preparation and training that the lads have had is paying dividends. In defence Stephen Bergin, Jack Fallon and Connor O'Connell held the line well and defended strongly whilst Jack Fallon and Mathew McDermott stepped into midfield had a fantastic game. The complete forward line worked hard and showed some great skill with Jonathan Doherty showing promise in his first game for the club. The under 12’s had their first blitz of the year on Sunday past. Due to the small numbers, for various reasons, we could only field one team. While others clubs had enough players to field two teams playing 5 matches each, our players took on the roll of both the A and B team, playing a total of 10 matches.
It took a couple of matches to get into their stride, but then Jack Mc Geehan and Ryan Watkins took control of the game passing some good balls to Jack Tierney and Michael Mullan took some excellent points. Praise must also be given to young Owen Watkins, although still under 10 managed to keep up with the older players.
The 10 matches took their toll on the young players as they started to run out of steam towards the end but never gave up. Both players and coaches are looking forward to the next set of matches.
There is a Doire Colmcille committee meeting to be held on Wednesday 7pm at the Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin.
